Vintage Treasures was started in 2003. We are a family run business, mother and daughter, who decided to take a leap of faith and start their own business. Our love of blown glass Christmas ornaments has turned into a small obsession as we seek out the most beautiful and unique blown glass Christmas ornaments from around the world.
Our travels have taken us to Germany where we have met many of the glass blowers and painters of this centuries old craft. Glass blower can attend school for up to 4 years to perfect their craft. While on our last visit to Germany we had the opportunity to try our hand and glass blowing. The actual blowing of the glass was nothing more than the effort you put to blowing a soap bubble. The hard part is the ability to make it round as we were not pressing ours into a mold. It is also very difficult to blow glass with a consistant thickness. My glass ball was slightly crooked at the top and when I attempted to wrap it in tissue for my flight home from Germany, it shattered into a million pieces.
